It is now more than two months since Boris and the UK Government placed the UK in Lockdown.

For anyone who didn’t live through the Second World War, this has been the biggest challenge to face the country in our collective memories.

Lockdown has been hard for everybody – particularly our key workers and our phenomenal NHS who have been applauded on a weekly basis, and rightly so.

In economic terms, the hospitality industry has been hard hit, with many restaurants and bars forced to close completely. We are delighted to say that everybody at AJ’s has stepped up to the mark and worked flat out to ensure that you still receive the customer service for which we are renowned.

Key milestones since that fateful announcement on March 23rd, included:

  • Launching AJ’s takeway and delivery service to Lindley and the surrounding areas. Every Thursday, Friday and over the weekend we deliver our fabulous burgers to our lovely customers, old and new. The feedback has been fantastic – and an AJ’s has become a regular treat for many.
  • Supporting our NHS – Our Operations manager Joanna Graham joined a group of Yorkshire chefs and businesses, to launch Food4Heroes to help provide healthy and tasty food for hard-pressed NHS workers at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. We are now offering a 10 percent discount on all takeaway and deliveries at AJ’s.
  • Saying thank you to our blue-light workers – We ran a special promotion to give something back to the Police, fire and ambulance crews who do such a sterling job locally. Free burgers were handed out on key dates in April.
  • Supporting the 75th anniversary of VE Day – Running a special Best of British Menu, putting up patriotic bunting and organising a live rendition of We’ll Meet Again just after 9pm on May 8th.

Finally, we would like to say a huge “thank you” to all our customers. We couldn’t have done any of it without you!
